Seven Things Bigger than Pluto Part 2

Writing, Running, and Ragging on Pluto

Oh yeah, we are still on this. All week long. That is how much fun it is to kick Pluto around. Pluto is so much fun to kick.

Today’s thing that is bigger than Pluto is Ganymede.

Ganymede is the largest moon in the solar system and the moon of its largest planet, Jupiter. Ganymede is twice Pluto’s sizer in diameter and is more than eleven times more massive.

Today we play more fair with Pluto by starting into the celestial bodies that dwarf it. (Pun intended) In some ways Ganymede is just unfair. This guy is huge, and orbits the biggest and baddest of the planets. It is bigger, but less massive, than Mercury. This one could be it’s own planet, unlike Pluto. Ganymede has fascinated us since it’s discovery as it is also bigger than our moon.

Again, if we love Pluto, want to embrace the new science, or even push it forward, then the correct answer is to call it a binary with Charon. This adds to Pluto’s uniqueness and makes it more special. Plus it shows you aren’t just stuck in the past.
